I normally do not leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience with Marshside Motors after the issues I dealt with following work performed on my truck.
To be fair, the original RPG 1.5” leveling kit on my 2021 raptor installation itself appeared to be done correctly. My issues began afterward with the alignment, mounting/balancing, and tuning-related services.
After the alignment and balancing work was completed, I immediately began experiencing steering wheel vibration along with uneven wear starting on my front tires, which were brand new prior to the service. I returned to the shop and gave them the opportunity to inspect and correct the issue, where I was charged again for remounting and balancing but I was told the vibration was caused by the tires themselves and not related to the alignment or balancing work.
Because the issue continued, I eventually took the truck to another reputable shop for a second opinion. They found alignment-related issues that required correction and also performed a proper rebalance of the tires. After inspecting the truck, they found that all four tires were out of balance. One tire reportedly had approximately 14 oz of weight on it when it only called for around 1 oz, which raised even more concerns regarding the original balancing work that had been performed.
After the corrective work, including alignment adjustments, installation of caster/camber adjustment hardware, and proper rebalancing, the steering wheel vibration was significantly improved and the truck drove noticeably better.
The second shop also identified uneven/chopped wear beginning on the tires, which is extremely frustrating considering the tires were brand new before the alignment and balancing services.
The tuning process was also handled extremely poorly. I was charged $262 in labor for what was described as “drive time and communication with the tuning company.” The problem is that Jake never drove the truck, I performed the tuning process myself, and I personally had to communicate with 5 Star Tuning directly in order to get the tunes processed and uploaded after they were completely forgotten to order initially. This resulted in an approximately 3.5-week delay.
When I questioned the labor charge, I was told the truck was not driven because I supposedly “had to rush out of there.” Jake claims to have video footage of this but refused to provide it. Regardless, even if I had said I needed to leave — which I did not — that still does not justify charging nearly $300 in labor for work that was never actually performed. I spoke with 5star tuning who told me they don’t even charge for flashing
Communication throughout the process was also very poor. I constantly had to reach out myself for updates rather than being proactively informed about delays or issues.
What is most disappointing is that even after all of these issues, I still tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. I was not initially demanding compensation for everything. I simply requested reimbursement for:
* the tuning labor that I ultimately performed myself,
* the labor charged to rebalance the tires that did not fix the issue,
* and the amount I had to spend at another shop to properly correct the alignment and balancing problems.
Instead of taking accountability or attempting to reasonably resolve the situation, I was essentially told they were not taking responsibility for any of it and a lawyer was immediately involved.
I have been around the automotive industry my entire life. My father has owned an auto shop for over 40 years, and I have never experienced this level of poor communication, lack of accountability, and customer service.
I understand mistakes can happen in any business. What matters is how those mistakes are handled. Unfortunately, my experience involved denial of responsibility, poor communication, and additional out-of-pocket costs to fix issues that should have been addressed properly the first time.
